Louis, the third of the four brothers, left the Oblate novitiate after a few months.  His older brother, John Baptist, in the long “Notice Necrologique” he wrote on their brother Joseph, gives the reason for leaving as “a fiery temperament.” He married, had at least one son, served in the military, reaching the rank of Lieutenant.  John Baptist called him “a perfect Christian, receiving Communion every day, and even going, despite the threats of his colonel, to make his remarkable voice heard at the lectern  of the Cathedral of Chalons.” Part of his military service was in Tunisia, during a war there.

He was the only member of the family able to attend the first vows of his brother Francis.

Louis died at age 40 in 1893, and is buried in Dijon.

Joseph Lemius, OMI, died at Louis’s son’s home. The question arises:  are there any descendents of Louis’ son?  Jean Pierre Caloz, OMI, used the Minitel in Strasbourg, and the office of the mayor of Montfort, Chalosse, to discover there were no Lemius’ listed in 1994. A search of French military records might be useful, or even the Mormon records in Salt Lake City, USA.
